Diagnostic description:
Perennial herb, erect upto 40 cm, strigose, branched, slightly woody below. Leaves entire, green, lanceolate or linear 2.5-6 cm long, petiolate; petiole 0.5-1 cm long. Cymes pedunculate, weakly scorpioid, without bracts. Calyx strigose, 1 mm long. Corolla white. Stamens 5, epipetalous, anthers 2 mm long. Nutlets 4, glabrous.
Associations:
The type for this species is from Jabal Sedder (Saudi Arabia), Schimper 842 (not seen). H. somalense Vatke, from E. Africa, is a very similar species with similar but thicker.
Distribution:
Tropical Africa, Saudi Arabia (Southwestern region and Asir).
The Farasan Island.
